We've all indulged in Kiwi Sauvignon (or as my brother who works in New Zealand's top wine shop calls it, "tank wash") but our love affair still continues - and why not? We've spoken to quite a few winemakers and there seems to be a desire to move back from the mango and passionfruit wines of late to the crisp, cool asparagus and cat pee classics of yore! Yay! All the while, the aromatics like Gewurztraminer and Riesling are coming on in leaps and bounds while the Pinot Noir is among the best in the world outside of France.
