Whites

2008 `Castle Label` QbA Riesling Schloss Vollrads, Rheingau, GERMANY
"A beautiful white, off-dry yet vibrant and vivid, featuring apricot and peach, with underlying spice and mineral flavors. It's all balanced and well put together, with a clean finish. Drink now through 2018. 6,000 cases made. -BS"
90/100 Wine Spectator Magazine

2007 Pinot Gris `Tradition` Domaine Pfister, Alsace, FRANCE
"Young Melanie Pfister's recent accomplishments at her family domaine only a dozen miles west of Strasbourg continue to impress... the 2007 Pfister collection culminates in an impressive clutch whose sheer ripeness and frequency - not to mention quality - are unique in the history of the estate."
Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate

2008 Quincy Domaine des Ballandors, Loire, FRANCE
"Jean Tatin and his wife Chantal have 20 hectares in Quincy. The Sauvignon vines are planted on the sandy soil over freshwater Kimmeridgian limestone that is characteristic of the region. This in turn gives the flinty, mineral flavours that typify the Ballandors wine. No oak is used so the purity of the Sauvignon shines through in the glass, making this wine a superb value alternative to Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé."

2008 Watervale Semillon Mount Horrocks, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
"If you thought good Semillon could be found only in the Hunter, Barossa and parts of WA, think again. This Clare Valley example is a stunner. Richer than a young Hunter but not as robust as a Barossa, this is creamy and intense yet has style and elegance with a fine, long finish. Would be ideal with grilled or pan-fried scallops."
Jeff Collerson, Daily Telegraph 2009

Reds

2006 Côtes du Rhône Villages `Cairanne` Domaine Richaud, Rhône, FRANCE
"Dark raspberry and ganache flavors are kept racy by anise, graphite and spice notes. The finish is fleshy, but with good focus, grip and length. Drink now through 2011. -JM"
90/100 Wine Spectator Magazine

2008 `Chimères` Côtes du Roussillon Villages  Château Saint Roch, Languedoc-Roussillon

"It almost seems as though Jean-Marc Lafarge is out to spoil things for every other southern French vintner by treating the consumer to wines of ridiculous value."
Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate

2007 `Les Graves de Mahon-Laville` Graves Jean-Christophe Barbe, Bordeaux, FRANCE

Jean-Christophe Barbe has 1.3 hectares of red grape varieties planted at Laville, on a plot of land called Mahon. These are used to produce Chateau Mahon-Laville, a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, which is startlingly good for a Bordeaux Rouge at this price.

Jean-Christophe was at the University of Bordeaux and now also instructs the youth of Bordeaux in winemaking. His wines reflect his background: they are pure and beautifully made, each a superb example of its appellation.

2007 Cahors Malbec Château de Chambert, South West France, FRANCE
"Taut, focused and deeply colored, with intense raspberry, red plum and currant flavors that are supported by a surplus of fresh acidity. The finish is minerally, with plenty of dusty notes. Drink now through 2014. 7,500 cases made. -KM"
91/100 Wine Spectator Magazine

2006 Priorat Mas La Mola, Catalunya , SPAIN
"Black cherry and raspberry flavors mingle with earth and mineral notes in this juicy red. The tannins are solid, but give way to floral and licorice notes on the finish. Polished, but still shows depth. Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Drink now through 2014. 585 cases made. -TM"
